I woke up on this Good Friday feeling God was calling me out to a greater responsibility—Shepherding.
Having a ministry—means having a flock.
Having a flock—is taking responsibility.
Shepherding comes with many responsibilities, but ultimately the most important responsibility is to FEED the flock by leading them to the WORD OF GOD.
The Word of God is Jesus.
Jesus is the Great Shepherd.
In Ezekiel 34, God gave specific responsibilities to the shepherds:
- Feed yourself
- Feed the flock
- Make the weak strong
- Heal the sick
- Bandage the wounded
- Bring back the strays
- Search for the lost
- Lead with gentleness
- Protect them from the enemy
The shepherds in this chapter failed at these responsibilities, but God promised to send one who would not—one who would feed us and be our Great Shepherd.
Let’s take a moment to say HALLELUJAH!
Here’s the thing—the Living Word is powerful!
A good shepherd does the first two steps—feed yourself and feed the flock.
The Great Shepherd does the rest!
- The Word heals the sick
- The Word bandages the wounds
- The Word makes the weak strong
- The Word brings back the strays
- The Word seeks after the lost
- The Word is gentle
- The Word protects us from the enemy
The Word is Jesus!
I want to be a good shepherd—I want to feed myself and feed the flock…I want to lead believers to the one that gave Himself on Good Friday for the flock.
