One of our favorite things to do as a family is take an evening walk before it gets dark.

Tonight I watched as my four year old daughter ran all the way down the dirt path giggling and twirling…full of life.

This time last year, I couldn’t get her to walk much less run…she would cry and throw a fit because she was tired and thirsty.

Finally, I’d give in and carry her the rest of the way where she could receive her drink.

Friends, that’s what God is asking you and me to do today for our loved ones that are weary and thirsty.

The hand of the Lord was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones.

Ezekiel 37:1

Dry bones.

Those are the two words God spoke to me last night when He woke me up.

Dry bones are those in captivity…a spiritual grave where they are experiencing no life in God.

God wants to breathe His breath back into their dry bones. He wants to give them a spiritual resurrection.

Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live.

Ezekiel 37:5

God wants you to search the valley for your loved ones.

He wants you to intercede for them like Moses did for Israel when they were in captivity.

So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, and exceeding great army.

Ezekiel 37:10

Pray and Fast.

This is how God said we are to intercede and carry our loved ones to the Father for deliverance and healing.

Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

Matthew 17:21

God has recently showed me how important it is to intercede for others through praying and fasting.

The enemy does NOT want us to discover this weapon we have against him through praying and fasting.

Here are some things I want you to consider when praying and fasting for a loved one:

  • Prepare your heart by knowing the spiritual need of the loved one in the valley.
  • Ask God for specifics on when you are to fast…it might be 3 meals in 1 day or 1 meal for 7 days.
  • Wait for God’s timing…don’t jump the gun.
  • Know greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:4)
  • This is between you and God only on their behalf.
  • Pray Psalm 91 over them…for God to keep them safe, to deliver them, and defend them on every side.

I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to see my loved ones giggling and twirling…full of life!
