Yesterday, God gave us the word RETREAT…but what are we to do once we submit and enter into our secret place?
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
That is the word God gave me for us today.
First we are to submit to God, and then we are to resist the devil.
But what does it mean to resist…to combat against the enemy?
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
Did you catch all that? That’s your answer!
- Study the Word of God (Draw near to God)
- Repent (Cleanse your hands and purify your hearts)
- Pray (Mourn and weep to God)
- Fast (Humble yourselves)
- Worship (God is near)
Before I went to bed last night God had me read 2 Samuel 12. In this chapter, God revealed David’s sin to him with Bathsheba through a story told by the Prophet Nathan.

So what did David do?
He Retreated and Resisted
He listened to the word of God spoken through the Prophet Nathan…drawing him near to God.
Wherefore hast though despised the commandment of the Lord, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.
2 Samuel 12:9
I have sinned against the Lord.
2 Samuel 12:13
Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

David therefore besought God for the child; and David fasted, and went in, and lay all night upon the earth.
2 Samuel 12:16
Then David arose from the earth, and washed, and anointed himself, and changed his apparel, and came into the house of the Lord, and worshipped.
2 Samuel 12:20
Retreat and Resist.
That is what we are to do.
Then the enemy has no choice but to flee.
