I feel truly blessed to be able to drive up and down the roads of America during the fall and winter to preach about our Savior while hunting ducks, but that’s another story for another day.
This is about daily life.
Truth is we all get hit with the trials or ups and downs of this world, so my question to you is this:
What do you do in those times that you’re not on top but in the valley?
Are you praising God? I know what you’re thinking right now…easier said than done, Robert.
Is any among you afflicted? Let him pray. Is any merry? Let him sing psalms.
James 5:13 says are you suffering? Pray. Are you cheerful? Praise. Regardless of our circumstances, we should look to God and consider how we can honor him through worship and prayer.
I’ll share a little story that goes perfect with this verse.
A while back I came across an awesome deal on a duck hunting boat. The guy only wanted 500 dollars for the boat, trailer, and motor.
To good to be true, right?
So I go look at it. Looks great. Has a title and all. Well the guy tells me that the boat has been sitting for a little over a year and the carburetor needed to be cleaned.
No problem. I bought the boat. Got it home. Cleaned it up. Painted the trailer and the boat. Now to get the motor worked on, and off to the lake I go.
Well, that’s what I was hoping.
I took the motor to a real good friend. He cleaned the carburetor and rebuilt it. We fired up the boat, and it finally cranked. That’s when the truth came out.
This motor needed a ton of work!
New throttle cable, fuel pump, water pump…I mean this bill started stacking up. I left that shop in a valley.
Duck season was about to start. I didn’t have the money to get this thing replaced nor to sink into it.
What did I do? I go on with daily life praying and praising God by telling my testimony and ministering to people.
Three days later I get a phone call from a friend that had found me a mud motor. 450 dollars that I didn’t have was all the guy wanted for it.
I go meet this guy believing God’s coming through on this. I’ve been in constant prayer and just believing God is going to do something amazing.
I told the guy about my ministry Wooden Cross Waterfowl. Next thing I know this guy wanted to give me that motor and a brand new one in the box for 350 dollars just to help me out.
God didn’t stop there!
On my way home, I got a phone call from another friend that wanted to donate 200 dollars toward the funding of a new motor for the boat.
Guys, I’m glad I didn’t get mad or start asking why me, God. I could have easily missed out on the blessing that was just around the corner.
I hope and pray that this has blessed each and everyone of you. And until next time, trust God and love People.
